One of my new year resolutions is to post more on this blog. (we shall see how it goes) I've decided to not only post about myself but also write about some of the other artists I know. A feature of my fellow artist friends every Friday ( or whenever I can find the time )... First up, I would like to introduce you to Matt Sesow .  Matt is a Washington DC artist known for his raw and vivid paintings that pack a punch of emotion. I first met Matt in 2002 at Artomatic - which was one of my first exhibits. He had his work on display in a room close to mine and had filled his wall from top to bottom with his artwork. It was opening night and he was sitting on the floor laying out even more paintings! My first impression was that this was a guy who is prolific! I didn't really get to know Matt until a few years later after commenting on his posts on the artdc.org forum and continuing to bump into him at other art events like the Adams Morgan Day Festival . Mark your Calendar for these Not-to-be-missed Fall Festivals! Adams Morgan Day Festival - Arts on Belmont Sept. 9, 2012  from 10am to 7pm The 2nd Sunday in September is Adams Morgan Day, an annual neighborhood festival with live music and international food. Adams Morgan Day has something for everyone! Arts on Belmont is a popular draw with its high quality original artists and artisans!  Art on the Avenue Festival Oct. 6, 2012 from 10am to 6pm Art on the Avenue is a multicultural arts festival celebrating the diversity of the Del Ray neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia through the arts. Hundreds artists and artisans of all kinds will discuss and sell their work along Mount Vernon Avenue. Plus three stages of music, children's art activities, and food!

I'll be vending at Adams Morgan Day again this year! Find me on Belmont Road. Sunday, September 13th 10am - 7pm http://www.adamsmorgandayfestival.com/ Each 2nd Sunday of September for over 30 years the hip DC neighborhood known as Adams Morgan hosts an amazing street festival. There is wide assortment of ethnic and festival food, live music, dancers, workshops, kid's & family activities, and vendors galore! Arts on Belmont is a special section of Adam's Morgan Day located along a shady, tree-lined Belmont Road between Columbia Rd and 18th Street. This is where you can discover original work of some the best artists in the Washington DC area. Artists and artisans showcase and sell glassware and metalwork, paintings, ceramics, jewelry, sculptures, photography and more! Arts On Belmont opens early at 10am so serious shoppers can browse and buy unique finds before the music and other activities begin.

Bow Wow Pow Wow

This Sunday is the 3rd annual Bow Wow Pow Wow in Adams Morgan! It's a fun, pet-themed festival and I will have lots of new animal artwork for sale!
